The first Eagle Mount program started in Bozeman in 1983, and in 1990, the non-profit organization began serving Great Falls.

"20 years ago. there was a small group of people that got together with the idea that there should be a group or organization that would allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy the recreation that Montana has to offer," said Eagle Mount Great Falls Executive Director Deb Sivumaki.

The Eagle Mount Great Falls Sled Hockey team just wrapped up their first season. They're already getting ready for next season thanks to CMR's freshmen class putting on a fundraiser for them this afternoon.

I’ve always believed that as a parent I am the best advocate for my children. If I don’t do it, who will? I also believe in giving back and paying forward so I joined the Bozeman Area Special Education PTA to help advocate for families who are still in need. Please join me in helping to raise awareness regarding disability issues in the community at the Legislative Candidate Forum on Disabilities on August 27. The forum will be held at Eagle Mount at 6901 Goldenstein, at 6:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. Childcare, accommodations, and transportation will be provided. This event is sponsored by The Arc Montana, Disability Rights Montana, Bozeman Area SEPTA, NAMI Bozeman, and PLUK and hosted by Eagle Mount Bozeman. BOZEMAN, MT - Teaching someone to ride a horse isn’t always a simple process. You can’t just hand them the reins, tell them to kick the horse to go, tug the reins to turn and pull back to stop. If the rider’s to have a safe, fun and educational experience, there’s more to the process, especially if the rider has special needs. And, while most riding instructors spend years honing their horsemanship and teaching skills, those working with special-needs riders must know other skills, such as various ways to safely mount riders onto the horse and volunteer management. When working with special-needs riders, there may be one to three volunteers per rider, one person leading the horse and a sidewalker on each side of the horse to provide rider support.

It’s time to get your party on again! This month, on July 17th, Eagle Mount is having a Pirate Pool Party. Please bring a bathing suit and towel, clothes you can get wet for some fun outside, and nice cozy clothes for movie watching after we swim. We will be watching Pirates of the Caribbean in the back room after dinner. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you RSVP. If you do not let us know that you will be coming, we will not be prepared to have you. Denver, CO—Seven centers offering equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) earned NARHA’s highest level of accomplishment for the first time and became NARHA Premier Accredited Centers during 2009. In addition, 216 Premier Accredited Centers renewed their Premier Accredited Center status during the year.

SEPTA will also be announcing its Top 5 Educators for 2009-2010 and distributing Teacher Appreciation Certificate to all Special Education teachers and supporting staff in the Bozeman area. State House and Senate candidates from Gallatin and Park counties will listen to and discuss the needs and rights of people with disabilities at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Mount. Candidates from both parties will take part in the forum, organized by state and local advocacy groups: the Arc Montana, Bozeman Special ED PTA, NAMI Bozeman, Parents Let's Unite for Kids, and Disability Rights Montana.

Local candidates for the state Legislature gathered at a forum Wednesday to discuss the challenges facing disabled Montanans. Held at Eagle Mount in Bozeman, the forum drew 16 candidates from both major parties who asked and answered questions about the issues facing disabled people and their families. Most told stories of disabilities in their own families.
